Laura’s love of reading and research is one of the many reasons she’s such a fantastic and valued legal assistant at Lesser, Lesser, Landy & Smith.
Laura joined the team two years ago as a legal assistant to Firm Partner Glenn Siegel. She got her start as a legal assistant after working in the system business office of Yale New Haven Hospital and helping an attorney obtain medical bills for his clients. He offered her a job working in his law firm. She studied criminal justice in at Lake Worth High School and always loved the law, so she jumped at the opportunity.
Laura is motivated by the opportunity to get justice for clients.
“Every case I get to work on, I think of how incredible it will be to make our client whole after an accident and that I get to help make that happen,” she said. “We all have the same goal in mind here….we work hard and our clients are our priority.”
When she’s not working, Laura is spending time with her husband, Jose, and their 12-year-old daughter, Catherine; walking her dogs, Teddy and Milo; listening to true crime podcasts; or cooking dinner (crispy baked chicken is her specialty).
It would surprise you to know that she loves karaoke and can behead, deshell and devein a shrimp in under 30 seconds. At the top of her bucket list is buying a house for her mother, who brought her from Colombia to Queens, New York when she was 5 months old.
“We learned English together,” Laura recalled. “She taught me to be tough yet graceful.”
