Elise Elder was driving three times the speed limit on June 28, 2024 when she struck and killed Martin Drummond as he rode his bicycle on the Ten Cent Bridge near Sewall’s Point.
Elder, 23, fled the scene, dragging Martin’s bicycle for 1.3 miles before reaching her parents’ house. Her blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit six hours after the crash when deputies arrested her.

The case has drawn widespread attention—not just because of the facts, but because of what didn’t happen that day: she didn’t stop, didn’t call 911, didn’t help.
Now, one year later, Martin’s widow has filed a wrongful death lawsuit. Lesser, Landy, Smith & Siegel, PLLC is leading the civil action on her behalf. The firm has emphasized that the case centers not only on the collision, but on the driver’s decision to flee and avoid responsibility.

What Happens Next
The criminal case is still active, with a court hearing scheduled for July 1, 2025. In the meantime, the Drummond family has launched a community initiative called Let’s Martin This County—a way to honor Martin’s life by encouraging people to do good, the way he did.
Lesser, Landy, Smith & Siegel, PLLC remains focused on holding the driver accountable and delivering the justice the Drummond family deserves.
